I used to be scared to eat healthy because I thought it meant I had to eat boring food that I hated, feel deprived and eat like a bird.
When I had a big event coming up and I wanted to fit into my “skinny clothes” or I was sick of feeling bloated and lethargic, I would suddenly start eating super healthy, based on what I read in magazines and heard on TV.
My healthy eating attempts would last for about 4 days before I was so miserable, hungry, and bored eating the healthy food the weight-loss industry had told me I should eat to lose weight.
Before I knew it, I would end up at the bakery ordering a chocolate donut and taking a croissant to go! Yet again I had given into another uncontrollable craving. I would grab my sweets, smiling on the outside to the person at the register, while inside I cringed at the acceptance that I was falling off the wagon. . .again.
Part of the reason this falling off and on the wagon happened so often was because I was trying to be so extreme so quickly. I was going from 0 to 60 mph in 2 seconds it overwhelmed me.
Eating healthy becomes realistic when you make small changes that DON’T seem overwhelming.
For the next 5 days, I’m going to bring you on board to the small changes you can integrate into your life that will keep you ON the wagon and eating healthier – and always loving what you eat!
It’s important to make small changes so that healthy eating becomes a lifestyle change – and not a 4-day fad!
