I have a friend / colleague at work who has a positive energy about herself. She always has interesting stories to tell – a person thats a real pick-me up in the middle of stressful days.
One afternoon, I saw her in the hall and she looked really down — I knew something was wrong since this was unusual for her.
“Whats up?” I asked her, “Why do you look so tired? Did you get enough sleep last night?”
“Nagina, I dont know what the hell is wrong. After lunch I felt like taking a nap, and I needed some energy to keep going. I grabbed one of those yummy looking cupcakes from the cupcake truck downstairs.
Im so tired . . .And I feel a little sick. I think it must have been the cupcake.”
Oh yes honey, it most definitely was.
After indulging in a delicious, sugary snack, my friend felt tired instead of energized. She struggled through the rest of the day, not being able to finish as much work as she had hoped. Eating unhealthy, sugary or high-carb snacks can result in a quick rush of energy followed by tiredness, depression or hunger again soon after.

Do they need to be raw nuts to start with or can they already be roasted?
Nagina Sethi Abdullah, BA, MBA says
They can be roasted. It’s best if they are unsalted but if salted don’t add any extra.
