At age 59, Kari felt depressed due to her weight and appearance. She lacked the confidence to do the things she’d once enjoyed, like hanging out with friends on the beach or going to the gym. Even though she was eating somewhat healthy, she just couldn’t shake those last few pounds.

“When I turned 55, I did a boudoir photo shoot and it turned out really beautiful. Even my friends said ‘Kari, you should do some kind of senior modeling or something’. But then after that, I don’t know what happened, I started gaining weight. I'm small, so 10 pounds might as well be 40.”

“I felt old, frumpy, and tired. I didn't want to go to the gym. It's like, I gotta get back in shape before I can even go to the gym, which is crazy!”

“I got a new bathing suit for the 4th of July. Before, I would keep my cover up on until I sat on the chair so no one would see me take it off, but now I just take it off and walk around and feel confident.”

By incorporating more protein and fats into her meals, Kari is more satisfied after eating and no longer craves her favorite indulgences like chocolate cake and candy - even on her cheat days! Moreover, Kari can still enjoy her daily glasses of wine - a reason many people think they can’t lose weight.
“Now I might not have any wine or I might have a half a glass, maybe a glass, but I don't have the craving for it so much.”
“I used to get up and go about my day. Now I know that even if I don't feel hungry, I need to eat, because once I start eating, then I realize, oh my gosh, I AM hungry, but I didn't feel hungry before.”
Before, she fell into the habit of putting off eating until late in the afternoon, almost as an afterthought. Now, using an easy food framework she learned in the 8 Week Slimdown Jumpstart program, she knows when and what to eat to keep her energized throughout the day.
