When I came home, I wanted to spend every free moment I had with my kids and my husband.
I quickly started to realize how little energy I had to do fun things I wanted with my family. I started avoiding taking my kids for walks and to play in the park. I knew I would get tired easily and be too exhausted to pick up my kids and put them on the slide or stand and push them on the swings. I felt like I couldn’t keep up with the other moms.
I was unhappy everytime I looked in the mirror. I was so frustrated because I couldn’t fit into any of the clothes in my closet - and I liked those clothes! I didn’t want to buy a size or two up!
I replied “no” to invitations to going out to dinner with my friends and husband because I didn’t want to think about what to wear, or feel frumpy and uncomfortable wearing whatever I did choose.
This wasn’t the life I imagined for myself! Something needed to change!
With my schedule, I didn’t have hours to spend running on the treadmill or the elliptical every day.
When I was growing up, my mom cooked us warm, flavorful meals every night, and it’s what I was used to. I knew my food needed to taste delicious to make a lifestyle shift – I couldn’t eat bland or boring food that left me hungry!
I researched volumes of nutritional information.
I love to cook, so I experimented and came up with my own recipes, modified the ones I grew up with and changed my diet.
I took on a positive mindset that yes, I could lose weight!
To my surprise, my weight came off faster than I could dream of.
I lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks, and 40 pounds in 9 months! I went down 4 sizes.
And it's stayed off.
